Prospect Plaza Houses have been demolished. The Towers as they were known were located in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, for years many low-income families, called the 4.53-acre lot home.
However, for the past decade The Towers were basically empty shells, fenced off from displaced tenants, vandals, derelicts and others.
The buildings owner The New York City Housing Authority, has publicly stated that demolishing Prospect Plaza Houses was cheaper than renovating the buildings.
But according to many of the former residents this demolition was strictly about making money. There is talk that the city is keen on building new condominiums and leaving past residents out in the cold.
