I welcome the New Year by getting back into my photography and blogging groove. Since my last post I have been working on a few hand-coloring pieces. The process can at times be painstaking but I enjoy coloring my photos.
I wanted to try coloring with something other than the polychromos pencils I used in the past. I purchased Derwent Tinted Charcoal Pencils awhile back and finally got around to using them on this rose flower print.
I started the process by converting the image of the rose from color to black and white in Photoshop. I printed on an Epson Printer using the Museo Portfolio Rag Paper. Because of the paper’s smooth matte surface, I applied layers on layers of mixed and blended colors to get deep rich tones.
I loved using the Derwent Tinted Charcoal Pencils, I only wished they came in additional colors apart from the current twenty-four colors.
